Alternative Solution - Where standpipe risers rise vertically though floors, or transfer horizontally from one location to another. It is proposed that proection using 3M duct wrap be permitted to maintain the service shaft rating. As such, it is proposed to protect selected vertical and horizontal portions of standpipe risers with a fire rated wrap assembly having a 2H Fire-resistantance rating (tested and rated in accordance with ULC requirements for fire resistant ducts) to provide the required 1H Fire Separation, where they are not located within a stair shaft or fire rated service space.
