SIte specific Alternative Solution for the "Public Spa" in the building..OBC Clauses 3.12.2.1.(4)(a) and (b) require a public spa to be surrounded by a hard-surfaced pool deck that is required to have clear deck space of 900mm on all sides and 1800mm at the main entrance point. In consideration of the functional statements and objectives associated with OBC clauses 3.12.2.1.(4)(a) and (b), and in lieu of providing a hard surfaced pool deck on four sides, it is proposed to provide the following design characteristics/equipment to achieve sufficiency of compliance with the above noted OBC requirements with a pool deck on only two sides. 1. Two electrically insulated or non-conducting reaching poles, each 4.0 m in length (including the added length of the reaching loop)2. A deck space greater than 900mm in width (1800mm at the entrance on two sides at which decking is proposed (actually minimum deck widths are 3180mm and 2150mm)3. A water depth of less than 13500mm (actual depth is approximately 1200mm) and 4. A relatively small spa area (29.5) and shape providing high visibility and accessibility form the proposed two sides of decking to all portions of the spa.
