Project description

The proposed alternative solution is for the elimination of tactile attention indicators around the pool deck of the public pool serving the mixed-use/residential building. OBC Clause 3.11.3.1.(14) requires a public pool be provided with a tactile attention indicator conforming to OBC article 3.8.3.18 between the pool deck and any area contiguous to the pool deck which may be confused with the deck. In consideration of the Functional Statements and Objectives associated with e OBC clause 3.11.3.1.(14), in lieu of providing tactile attention indicator, it is proposed to provide the following design characteristics to achieve sufficiency of compliance with the above OBC requirements: The 1800mm wide pool deck proper will be constructed of a different material than the remainder of the deck in the pool area, the raised wall of the pool will provide a physical boundary between the pool deck and the pool basin, and access into the pool area is fenced such that a person entering the pool area would have indication that a pool is near by.
