Project description
Water closets in barrier free washrooms are with a water tank. The water closets are the elongated type, needed to facilitate user needs for the building. The water closet is 833mm high measured from the finished floor level to the top of the water tank. The OBC requires the grab bar installed behind the water closet to be located within 840mm to 920mm above the finished floor, and 150mm above the water tank. In installing the grab bar at 150mm above the water tank, the height of the grab bar will be at 983mm above the floor, exceeding the OBC height restriction by approximately 63mm. It is proposed to follow provisions in the NBC 2015 and the CSA B651-18 in mounting the grab bar at 100mm above the water tank, which will place the grab bar at 933mm above the finished floor.
