Project description

This Alternative Solution addresses the proposed omission of a sprinkler system in the garbage room within the unsprinklered existing one storey building. Based on the analysis provided in the Alternative Solution report, the omission of a sprinkler system within the garbage room of the 1528 Bayview Avenue building provides sufficiency of compliance with the level of life safety and fire protection required by of the Code for rooms for the temporary storage of combustible refuse. The addition of a sprinkler system for the garbage room within the building is not considered to substantively improve the fire protection or life safety performance of the building. On this basis, the proposed design provides sufficiency of compliance with the OBC.
