Project description
Secure two layers of fire rated gypsum board (type X or C, C being a denser gypsum product) directly to the exposed faces of the roof members and substrate. If preferred, the outer layer can be a cement board substrate to further protect the wood members from combustibility. Fire stopping / caulking is proposed along the edges where the combustible material meets the wall system. This same approach would be done for the shear walls noted in the OBC notice.
