Audibility Testing Door Open vs. Door ClosedThe 2024 Building Code came into effect on January 1, 2025, and introduced a new provision in Sentence 3.2.4.18.(7) of the 2024 Ontario Building Code (OBC), which requires audibility to be measured with all intervening doors closed. However, the building permit bearing number 22 126755 FSU 00 FS was applied for in March 2022 and subsequently issued in April of the same year. As such, the applicable code of record for this project is the 2012 Ontario Building Code, which does not include this requirement.
