Alternative Solution propos for - Group C, residential occupancy. The building is considered a house, as a single-family dwelling unit, - Three storeys in building height, with two basement levels, - Approximately 202 m2 in building area, - Combustible and noncombustible construction, - Subject to Part 9 of the OBC. However, in accordance with Sentence 9.10.1.3.(3), any basement that contains more than 1 storey is subject to Part 3. Thus, the second basement level is subject to Part 3, - Second basement level is still considered part of the single-family dwelling unit, as it is part of the building and serves the same occupants. Though it is governed by Part 3, it is not a separate building or separate occupancy/use, - Second basement level is classified to Article 3.2.2.15., - Provides 6 bedrooms, and this has an occupant load of 12. Per Article 3.2.2.15, the sub-basement must be sprinklered and will be protected with a sprinkler system. The sprinkler system will be designed and installed in conformance with NFPA 13D, "One-and Two-Family Dwelling Units." The sub-basement level will be separated from the first basement level by a 2-hour fire separation. The first basement level has direct exterior access and an exterior stair on its south elevation.
